The Posbury St Francis Trust, an esteemed Anglican Trust, provide amongst other services offers sanctuary for retreats, recuperation and study. One of these is The Haven, a quaint coastal retreat overlooking the breathtaking Porthcurno.

We were recommended to the Trust and entrusted with the task of fully renovating and extending The Haven to create a serene escape, which truly connects with its location.

Originally built in the 1980’s, the house has been part of four decades of vibrant life! In 2020 the Trustees decided it was time to rejuvenate the facilities and make the house more family-friendly.  The brief was to convert the unused garage into a cosy double bedroom with ensuite and to create additional living space.

Perched high on the cliffs the house overlooks the magnificent Porthcurno and Loggans Rock.  The extension to the living space creates panoramic vistas of the coasts and provides a light, bright full height space which contrast with the snug bedrooms.

The renovation also encompassed the remaining bedrooms, bathroom and kitchen and a complete overhaul of the electric and heating system: solar panels were installed and new heating and hot water systems, with high levels of insulation, resulted in an impressive EPC rating of A.

Given The Haven’s proximity  to the renowned Minack Theatre and its use visiting Companies, it was crucial that the renovation work did not disrupt the theatre’s operations.  Through meticulous planning and collaboration between clients, contractors and Atelier, we successfully phased the project to mitigate disruption, while fully delivering the brief with a delightful Haven!
